Eating Disorder Recovery Groups for Queer and Trans Individuals

Art therapy and verbal processing groups are offered on a limited basis for LGTBQ folks who are navigating eating disorder recovery. Group sessions will address some of the common challenges queer people face in recovery including gender dysphoria and shame. As a group, we’ll address the oppressive structures that are impacting recovery including weight stigma, transphobia, and homophobia.

As a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, I will implement strategies to help people cultivate a sense of neutrality and acceptance without the pressure to love their body. Learn more about Eating Disorder Therapy for LGBTQ Individuals.

Support Groups for Partners of Transitioning Individuals

Supporting a partner through gender transition brings unique joys and challenges. These groups provide space for partners to share about their experiences with people who are on the same journey. The goal is to provide a judgement-free space where people can be honest without hurting their partner’s feelings.

In these groups, members will have the opportunity to share strategies for handling family reactions and other relationships. Topics will include changes in identity related to their partner’s transition, whether or not to separate, and how to engage in self-care. Learn more about Therapy for Transitioning Partners

Who Thrives in Group Therapy?

Group psychotherapy works best for individuals ready to both give and receive support. If you're curious about others' experiences, willing to practice vulnerability, and able to maintain confidentiality, group treatment could be transformative. During our consultation, we explore whether your current needs align with what group therapy offers.

My groups particularly benefit:

  • Queer and non-binary individuals struggling with perfectionism and self-worth

  • Trans individuals navigating transition and mental health

  • Partners supporting transitioning loved ones

  • LGBTQ+ teens facing identity and family challenges

  • Anyone dealing with eating disorders through a queer lens
